INTERREG “PLAY FORWARD”
Play Forward: Football for Social Sustainability
Ghetto Games is committed to fostering social inclusion and promoting healthy lifestyles through football.
Our project, Play Forward: Football for Social Sustainability, aims to strengthen mutual cooperation between Latvian and Estonian football communities while empowering community leaders.
Training Community Leaders: We will provide training and capacity-building opportunities for community leaders in both Latvia and Estonia.
Fostering Social Inclusion: We will focus on promoting social inclusion for minority groups and individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Promoting Healthy Lifestyles: We will encourage participation in sports and physical activities to promote a healthy lifestyle.
Strengthening Cross-Border Cooperation: We will strengthen existing partnerships and create new opportunities for collaboration between Latvian and Estonian football communities.
In Estonia, we are working with community leaders from FC Kalju branches in Pärnu, Haapsalu, and Risti. These dedicated individuals are already actively involved in their communities and are eager to develop their skills in event organization and community building.
If you are a community leader, coach, or volunteer interested in fostering social inclusion and promoting healthy lifestyles through football, we invite you to join our project.
Together, we can make a positive impact on our communities and strengthen cross-border cooperation.

At the conclusion of the project “Play Forward: Football for Social Sustainability,” implemented by the association STREETBASKET
in cooperation with Kalju FC from Estonia, a practical methodological manual has been developed.
It compiles the experience gained during the project, best practices, and participants’ recommendations on how street football
can be used as a tool for social inclusion and strengthening communities.
The manual, “How Can Street Football Promote More Socially Inclusive Communities at the Local Level?”,
is available in Latvian, Estonian, and English. It serves as a valuable resource for community leaders, youth workers,
and municipal representatives in Latvia and Estonia. The publication includes practical advice, examples, and recommendations
based on six community workshops and two international tournament days held in Valmiera and Haapsalu.
“During the project, we demonstrated that football can be much more than just a game – it can become a tool for building trust,
engaging young people from diverse backgrounds, and strengthening cooperation between neighbouring countries,”
emphasised representatives of the STREETBASKET association.
The methodological document is available in digital format and can be freely used for future initiatives that promote social cohesion,
healthy lifestyles, and active youth participation. This activity concludes the main objectives of the project and
confirms sustainable cooperation between Latvian and Estonian communities beyond the project’s duration.
