Nõmme Kalju has parted ways with Igor Prins, new coach will be former Estonian national team and Kalju’s player Sergei Terehhov. Assistant coach will be Zaur Tšilingarašvili and goalkeeper coach Siim-Sten Palm.
“I am very happy to start my coaching career in Nõmme Kalju. In my 6 year stay in Kalju I have been in many different roles, but now is time for new and serious challenge. I know team very well and hope to achieve good atmosphere in here. I thank Kalju for opportunity and I think my experiances gained as a player will help me a lot,” commented new head coach Sergei Terehhov.
“Our responsability as a football club is to trust our youth players and coaches, who have carried Kalju’s identity through the activities. We belive that Sergei Terehhov, who has UEFA’s highest coach licens, represented club as a player, coach and sports director, is the one, we need in our first team right now. As many of our youth players have rised into first team, we will trust specialist developed in our club to lead the team,” said Nõmme Kalju’s president Kuno Tehva.
“We have written Igor Prins’s name into our history books with capital letters and will remember him positively as authoritative and successful coach. New coach will face big challenge and he also will have opportunity to earn authority through hard work,” Tehva added.
Terehhov, born in Pärnu, joined Kalju in 2009, spending five last seasons of he’s career in Nõmme, where he played in 133 league games, scoring 7 goals. He’s biggest achievement in Kalju is undoubtedly Estonian Premium liiga title in 2012. In 2010 Kalju’s head coach was Fredo Getulio Aurelio, Terehhov was player and assistant coach. Later he went to be sports director and youth coach.
He has represented Estonian national team 94 times, scoring 5 times, most memorable of them against Russia in 2006 World Cup qualifiers. He has gained coaching experiances in Estonian U-17 youth team, where he is assistant coach. Head coach is Lars Hopp. There are also many Kalju’s youth players playing for national team.
Terehhov’s career has been full of experiances, also internationally. He played several years aboard, reprecenting Brann (Norway), FC Haka and FC Honka (both Finland) and Jaroslav Šinnik (Russia). In Estonia, adding to Nõmme Kalju, he has played for Pärnu Tervis, Tallinna Sadam, FC Flora and FC TVMK.
Terehhov has two Estonian titles with FC Flora in 1997-98 and 1998. In 2002 he won Finnish cup with FC Haka and two years later he helped them to win Veikkausliiga. In 2012 he achieved historic first title with Kalju.
